New York Tech Client
Illuminated New York ExhibitFor our client’s unique space, we were tasked with activating long and narrow rooms by infusing excitement into the users’ day-to-day experiences. Given the room constraints, typical circulation within them was impractical and imposed a unique design challenge.
Our objective was to evoke a sense of wonder and creativity, fitting for a space themed around the home and framed images. To achieve this, we introduced a gallery wall with select frames designed to open. These specially marked yellow frames prompt unsuspecting users to engage by pulling corners or peering inside, creating moments of surprise and discovery.
The installation consists of two themes, one showcasing iconic skyscrapers and buildings, and the other capturing the mosaics and signage from various subway stops—a juxtaposition of scenes from above and below ground in the city. Employing 12–15 edge-lit panels that seamlessly blend into the room, each frame controls 4–5 layers of illuminated artwork, creating a dynamic, dimensional effect. This design ensures that each time a frame is opened, users are treated to a unique and captivating visual experience.
