Cameo Cafe

St. John's Terminal

Cameo is an art deco inspired cafe, located in Google’s New York headquarter building St. John’s Terminal. Our task was to imbue the essence of a cameo—a brief appearance in a theatrical production or film—into the space.

Drawing inspiration from New York City theaters, our signage exudes a subtle art deco charm through period-specific typography and playful station naming. Numbered tags adorn communal seating areas, reminiscent of theater seating arrangements. Each food station boasts a bespoke framework, allowing for food offerings and menus to change out daily. At the entrance of the cafe, poster frames showcase daily food specials and are also built to store future food offerings.

Environmental graphics shimmer with reflective finishes, inviting patrons to leave their own “cameo” amid an atmosphere of glamour and sophistication. As visitors bid adieu, they traverse an exit corridor adorned with the cinematic allure of New York City’s filming locations, a homage to the city’s rich and ever-changing tapestry. Designed to seamlessly integrate patrons into its ambiance, Cameo ensures that every visitor becomes a part of its narrative in a small way.
